Maninoa Surf Fales - Samoan Tsunami

Line Up Surf Australia and Maninoa Surf Fales staff are pleased to inform all clients and well wishers that have been concerned and asking about Maninoa Surf Fales, staff and village members that all are safe and well. Dispite the fact that the tsunami devistated many resorts on the south shore of Upolu, Maninoa is open for business and taking bookings as usual. Despite loosing many of our basic Fales which will be rebuilt in the coming months, our new complex which includes 10 tiled, fan cooled, self contained rooms, conference centre and dining was barely touched by the tsunami and is now back in full operation....

... We are also stoked that surfers have been arriving only four days after the tsunami hit, still having great waves and giving great hope to the local people. Lupe's bar which is only meters away offering refreshments, meals and a great meeting place on the beach. Our Australian surfguide Tim Southall is still guiding surfers with our new boats out to the waves. All previous bookings and new bookings will be upgraded into the new complex for the same price of the basic fales until new fales are completed. ...

... Many people have been asking about how they can help. There is no doubt that the most obvious way to help the people is to come and have a holiday. This is supported by the Tourist Authority, Government and the local people. Right now, there is over 25% unemployment. Many surfers have offered to come and help rebuild. This strategy has been welcomed but we hope this strategy is culturally sensative and not to take jobs, but to help train and educate the local samoans on how to build properly. On behalf of Maninoa Surf Fales, we thank the surfers that have been coming back and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Hardcore, big wave charger from Tasmania, Andy Campbell is now riding Line Up tow-in boards shaped by Hawaiian shaper, Rex. Andy who is considered fearless is currently doing the Billabong Odessey tour where the best big wave surfers in the world are on standby to surf the biggest waves they can find. Andy, who is unassuming is now making a career of charging the biggest and heaviest waves all over the globe. Andy was the first to surf Tasmania's notorious Shipstern bluff. The rest is now history...

Col Ladhams shaping for Line Up

Line Up is honoured to announce the appointment of master shaper Col Ladhams. Col, who has shaped for many of the worlds best surfers, including Taj Burrows & Dave McAuley as well as shaping for Lost Surfboards; HIC Hawaii; Element; ACT & Greg Webber. Col brings years of experience to the Line Up stable. So for all those wishing for that magic surfboard, give Line Up a call and get one of Col's boards.

Other shapers who have joined the team: young Dave Howell, team rider turned shaper Jason Zimmer & John Lauder. Also, Brandon McDonald from Hot Buttered International is also guest shaping for Line Up. Rex has also put a new dimension to Line Up with his Tow-in boards, Longboards & for that matter everything in between. Rex has worked in Hawaii for John Carper & Eric Arakawa, shaper for World Champion, Andy Irons.
